Foodbanks

Many foodbanks in the UK are run by The Trussell Trust.  The following comes from their website:

The Trussell Trust is a poverty charity founded on Christian principles. We work with people of all faiths and none, but are inspired to do what we do by Jesus’ words:

“For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.”
– Matthew 25:35-36

Their website is excellent – very clear and well laid out so if you’re interested please go there, you don’t need me repeating it all for you!  The most striking thing for me was the statistics.

1,332,952 three-day emergency food supplies were given to families in 2017/18 by The Trussell Trust

It is outrageous that our benefit system leaves so many people hungry and needing support of this kind.  Thank goodness that we have charities like this to step in.  Please consider putting an extra couple of items in your basket next time you are in the supermarket.
